Why would I give up on a game so seemingly promising that many people appear to be enjoying around the globe as we speak? My playthrough of the first Borderlands was great. Three friends and I did co-op for about half of it, and I went solo for the other half. I arrived beaten, bloodied, and scarred to the final boss, and left disappointed. For such an epic journey to end in a manner like it did left a bad taste in my mouth. Attempts at beating it once more with other classes were foiled by the general dissatisfaction the ending of the game left me. That was all I thought about in line to get Borderlands 2. All I hoped for was a good ending to what I was sure would be a great game. Never once did I think that it would disappoint, and boy did it.

To access the full range of graphics settings, you will need to scroll down the screen using the arrow at the bottom of the Video options page, or by using your mouse wheel. Most of these settings will have an impact on image quality and performance, unless otherwise noted. This slider controls the overall brightness of the game image. The correct level will vary depending on your monitor’s brightness level and your viewing environment.
Set brightness such that it is not high enough to cause the screen to appear washed out or “milky” looking, and not low enough to lose all detail in darker areas. This setting has no impact on performance.
Also, has anyone seen how matchmaking works in BL2 for OP3 and higher characters? On the matchmaking was capped at level 72 +/- 2 levels so reaching OP3 meant you dropped off the matchmaking board and no one would join your game.

Sep 26, · The Official Borderlands 2 Thread Discussion in ‘PC Not sure if my upstream was choking or if the matchmaking system is whack. It sure seems like it takes too long to find a game. I seem to remember in BL1 at higher levels finding 60+ capacity rifles that were basically machine guns. Haven’t run across any yet (level 32).
See results Loot Everything In Borderlands 2 there are masses of boxes, barrels and other containers scattering the areas, which all contain either ammo, health regains or cash. These can be extremely useful to loot, as with the more cash that you have available, the more you can afford to purchase the better equipment, shield, guns etc. The other nice thing that Borderlands 2 has integrated in the game is that it allows loot sharing as well, which in effect allows one person from the group to loot from all the enemies, and the rest of the group gain a share of that loot.
Therefore, as a strategy, you could potentially have one person from the group shoot everything and another person simply pick up what is left. It may be worth having a good way of communication between players, so that you can easily alert other players if there is an area with a lot of loot to pick up. Remember, that Borderlands 2 has immense map sizes, and is a free-roam game. This means that you need to be specific when telling people where to go or look for things to collect.

Overview. Assault rifles replace combat rifles in Borderlands large magazines and fair accuracy make them most suited to sustained medium-range combat. They tend to have slower rates of fire compared to SMGs but greater damage; overall, most rifles tend to be on the losing end of .
Yesterday during the Gearbox Software PAX Australia panel, the first details for the game’s fifth expansion were announced. Additionally, they dropped an outline of more feature updates coming up Those players looking for even more of a challenge will be able to over level the game, making content more difficult for advanced players. Personally I’m glad they made that only an option Borderlands-style overleveling runs high to tedium. Emptying your full capacity of bullets into one enemy again and again and again is not more challenging, just annoying and boring.
You will not need any of the previous DLC to be able to play. Don’t worry, even though Season Pack content has petered out, Gearbox isn’t out for the last action money grab yet!

Experience is gained by killing enemies and completing quests. Difficulty of a quest can be checked by pressing [Tab] and then going into your quest log. Note that enemies level with you. Hence if you go back to an earlier area, the enemies there will be of a higher level now. While the bosses will not revive after leaving and re-entering an area, all the rest of the enemies will. Players usually adopt farming as a means to level up and then have a better shot at a difficult boss or quest.
I just got the handsome edition and I’m looking for cool people to play with on borderlands 2. When I look at matchmaking there’s only a few games going on and they are really low levels. I’m only level 7 and the games are players
Borderlands 2 Badass system has infinite levels of progression Gearbox Software on its attempt to create a hobby. As you play Borderlands 2 you level up your Badass rank, which is linked to your profile but provides statistical bonuses to all your characters – new and old. Each time you use a token gained through Badass, the game randomly picks a set of statistics. Then, you decide which statistic to increase. It’s all powered by a secret algorithm the developer is keeping close to its chest, Gearbox chief Randy Picthford, who expects to see long-term players with Badass levels in the thousands, told Eurogamer he believes the system is the first of its kind.
Even Call of Duty multiplayer, your growth is profile related, not character related, but they don’t have character choices. You’re not growing characters. Everything puts a cap onto it. It’s all part of Gearbox’s effort to create a hobby with Borderlands 2, something players continue to play for years. There’s also the issue of value, Pitchford added.
He hopes that by creating a game that, technically, will last players forever, they will feel they’re getting value for money. They’ve got to spend some money.

But there’s a quest to kill it anyway. The boss is called Terramorphous the Invincible, and he earns his name. This gargantuan thresher serpent thing emerges from the rock with a roar that echoes throughout his cliff-side home, Terramorphous Peak in the Thousand Cuts area. Its knock-back attack sends you flying high into the air, probably to your death. It hits hard enough to kill you outright. Its tentacles, many of which protrude from the ground, nag at your already frayed concentration.
Borderlands 2 was officially announced on August 3rd, The game was released on September 18, in the United States, September 20, in the Australasia region .
Story matters more than most people think it does. The post-credits reveal shows the newly-minted Handsome Jack – complete with mask – choking the life out of corporate rival Tassiter. This would have been so much better if Tassiter had been a larger element of the story. A good story just needs to achieve its goals and remain true to its characters. In terms of story-to-gameplay ratio, the player spent many hours clicking on monsters for every minute they spent watching those cutscenes.
But even though the vignettes were short and far between, they still accomplished the basic goal of telling you why you were going to these places and clicking on these monsters. They made it clear that this world was dark and desperate, and that even though your character seemed pretty powerful they were still very small in the face of such overwhelming forces. It means the game would have been even better if the story had delivered on whatever it was trying to do. Wrapping Up Moment I love from the game: When Janey is introduced and we see her silhouette against the imposing backdrop of Helios Station.

Michael Barnes Featured , Reviews Borderlands 2 is a terrible game design. Hold on angry internet mob, put the pitchforks and torches down and lemme finish. Playing with friends is neat because you can shoot the shit while you shoot the bad guys. But both Borderlands are absolutely terrible designs along a couple of different parameters. The obvious ones are laid bare just by playing the game for an hour. Quests are somewhat improved, a couple of them are a little more thoughtful and I like that some have optional goals.
The gunplay is rudimentary at best outside of picking which shooting implement to use at a given time. Playing a Gunzerker makes the game feel almost like a Serious Sam title. Or Castle Wolfenstein 3D. Further, there are no RPG elements in the game despite claims otherwise. Nor is shopping for new class abilities with your new XP-purchased skill point.
Those things are micromanagement, not role-playing. More discreetly, Borderlands 2 sucks for the same reasons that the first one did.

Disconnect between online co-op and your campaign Feels artificially long and bloated Side quests are uneven Since its launch, Borderlands has captivated millions with its unique fusion of first-person shooting and loot-centric role-playing action. With its sequel, Gearbox Software’s genre splice offers up some sorely needed improvements to the formula. It’s not always even, but there’s no argument that Borderlands 2 is an exceptionally fun experience.
Like its predecessor, Borderlands 2 takes place on the alien planet of Pandora, a mineral-rich land in which mega-corporations mine planetary resources for profit. You take on the role of one of four Vault Hunters, a special breed of mercenary who loot and raid their way to the planet’s most treasured resource, vaults full of untold riches or so it seems. They’re tasked with taking down the villainous Handsome Jack, head of the Hyperion Corporation–and one of the most gloriously sneering nemeses seen in a video game in some time.
Borderlands 2’s main hook is its focus on “shooting and looting. Guns are broken down into brands and damage modifiers. So, for example, a gun made by Hyperion will have a more high tech feel, whereas another line may provide punchier gunplay. The damage modifiers–fire, acid, and electricity, among others–all factor in heavily when selecting the best tool to take down enemy types.
It provides a strong sense of strategy to how to approach a mob of hostiles. Though the early stage weapons lack certain tactility, there’s a heft to higher-level guns that’s truly satisfying.
